Who We Are
Curran and his wife, Abby, are both graduates of Covenant College where they met. Curran served as a youth minister in North Carolina then earned an MDiv at Covenant Theological Seminary. He served as an elder in St. Louis before becoming the pastor of a church in Carbondale, IL. He has a PhD in historical theology from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. Curran and Abby have four children; they love camping, hiking, hanging out at the beach, and checking out local restaurants.
While we are still being organized, we are overseen by a committee of elders from our presbytery (regional oversight board).
A Local, Presbyterian Church.
We are a church in and for our community.
We are part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)*, led by elders and connected with other local churches.
We believe that local, Christ-centered churches are Christ’s saving presence on earth.
What We Believe
In simple language:
We believe that God is real and gives life meaning and purpose.
We believe that the world is not the way it’s supposed to be.
We believe that God has communicated to his people throughout history, recorded in the Bible. Through the Bible, he is still speaking.
We believe that God is encountered in Jesus Christ, who is God, became flesh, died for our sins, was buried, resurrected, and intercedes for his people.
We believe in the reality and the power of grace: though we are worse than we could ever realize, we are more loved than we could ever imagine.
We believe that everyone is created in the image of God and that everyone deserves our respect and love.We believe that the Church is the heart of Christian community.
